Simulations Plus, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLP), a leading provider of software for pharmaceutical discovery and development, announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Words+, Inc., has been accredited by Medicare.
CARF International, a Medicare appointed accreditation organization, announced that Words+, Inc., has been awarded accreditation as a Medicare DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies) supplier in augmentative communication and speech generating devices.
Jeff Dahlen , president of Words+, said, “We recently underwent an accreditation audit during which CARF applied Medicare quality standards, examined our manufacturing and service delivery procedures, and interviewed employees involved in all aspects of the business. We are very pleased to announce approval at the highest level available for Medicare accreditation. I am very proud of our entire staff and distributor network.”
Ms. Momoko Beran, chief financial officer for Simulations Plus, added: “Medicare accreditation is required in order to provide products and services to Medicare clients. Many companies are still struggling to meet this new critical requirement by the September 30, 2009 deadline. Words+ also serves clients funded by all fifty independent state Medicaid agencies, some of which already require Medicare provider status in order to serve their clients. Other state Medicaid agencies are expected to include this requirement soon because Medicare accreditation ensures their clients receive high quality products and services from stable, responsible companies. The independent insurance industry is expected to follow suit. This extends the importance of Medicare accreditation far beyond just being an authorized Medicare provider. Words+ is one of very few companies providing service and funding support at this broad national level.
