Zackary Kenz, Ph.D.
Senior Principal Scientist
Quantitative Systems Pharmacology
About Zackary
Dr. Kenz, along with Drs. Shoda and Battista, is exploring the role of the immune system in multiple organ systems and disease areas, concentrating on how QSP modeling can inform drug development questions in those areas. This includes drug-induced liver injury (DILI), with a focus on mechanistic modeling of the adaptive immune system in hopes of investigating cases of idiosyncratic DILI. Zack also utilizes DILIsym in proprietary projects to help evaluate DILI risk for sponsor compounds in clinical development.
Prior to joining Simulations Plus in 2017, Dr. Kenz worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in the ISR Systems and Architectures group utilizing in silico modeling for analysis of a broad range of technologies supporting DoD needs. His graduate work was focused on mathematical modeling, data analysis, and practical and mathematical questions of fitting models to data (inverse problems). A primary application of this work was a proof-of-concept model for detection and localization of blocked coronary arteries using acoustic waves, in collaboration with academic researchers in London. Dr. Kenz graduated with a Ph.D. and masters in applied mathematics from NC State University and a B.A. in mathematics and computer science from Concordia College, Moorhead.
