About Amit
Amit Taneja is a Director of Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology at Simulations Plus. He has a diverse background in pharmacometrics, drug development, clinical research, and medical affairs. He has over 18 years of experience, having worked across academia, in pharmaceutical consulting, and in pharmaceutical companies.
In his last position, he was employed as a senior pharmacometrics leader in the department of clinical pharmacology at Galapagos Pharmaceuticals (2017-2023), where he was responsible for the implementation of model-based drug development in diverse therapeutic areas, including but not limited to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and osteoarthritis. He was previously a team leader of pharmacometrics and biometrics at Kinesis Pharma (2015-2017), prior to which he did a post-doctoral fellowship in translational modeling of antipsychotics at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) from 2013 to 2015.
He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Leiden between 2008-2013, on the evaluation of PKPD relationships and dosing rationale in analgesic drug development. From 2001 to 2008, he worked at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (Hyderabad, India), where he took on roles with increasing responsibility in medical affairs, clinical research, clinical pharmacology, and regulatory affairs. Amit obtained his degree in medicine, with a specialization in Pharmacology (MD), from Pune University, India (1988-1997).
