A large pharmaceutical company required training for an upcoming clinical trial. They had more than 1,300 investigators who needed to participate.
It was critical for the company that the investigator team was effectively trained on the details of the protocol. Traditional methods of training, whether through online meetings or in-person sessions, did not offer engagement opportunities for trainees or actionable data about protocol missteps or misunderstandings.
The Pro-ficiency Performance Management platform was selected for training the investigator team.
The client worked with our consultants to develop an immersive simulation-driven training experience that offered real-world scenarios, where trainees could learn and practice in a risk-free environment. The platform provided performance and compliance reports that identified areas of competence and those in need of improvement, allowing the client to strengthen understanding before potential problems could impact the study.
The client reported satisfaction with the utility of the Pro-ficiency Performance Management platform and its use in their study. They were also pleased to find that simulation-based training resulted in significant cost savings compared to traditional investigator meetings.
Investigators trained with the platform also reported satisfaction with the experience; in a survey, they identified the advantages they saw:
- 87% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the training was effective in educating the investigator team on the details of the protocol.
- 85% of investigators reported that simulation training helped them avoid protocol deviations.
- 82% of learners reported simulation training as being a more efficacious and efficient means of educating site staff than other methodologies.
- 76% of investigators were shown to prefer the simulation training approach over all other methods.
