About Conner
Dr. Sandefur brings 10+ years of experience in systems biology to Simulations Plus, with a particular focus on using mathematical models as tools to both investigate disruptions to biological pathways underlying airway disease and to predict therapeutic interventions.
Prior to joining Simulations Plus, Dr. Sandefur worked as a consultant applying mathematical models to aid in drug development. Before moving into consulting, Dr. Sandefur was a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a historically American Indian university situated in rural southeast North Carolina.
A citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, a federally recognized American Indian nation, Dr. Sandefur is passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to utilize science to impact positive change in their communities, with a focus on American Indian communities. He is a member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) and the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and actively mentors young researchers, educators, and innovators underrepresented in the sciences.
Dr. Sandefur completed an NIH funded IRACDA postdoctoral fellowship at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC after receiving his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at The George Washington University in Washington DC.
